In the pond ecosystem decomposition of fish excreta and unconsumed fish food produces toxic ammonium. Under normal garden pond conditions this toxin cannot be adequately broken down by existing bacteria.
This is where OASE Pondlith works naturally by reducing the concentration of harmful substances through the bacteria that have settled on the large surface, thus it prevents water contamination. At the same time the vital nutritional base for green algae is withdrawn and murky water is effectively counteracted.
Pondlith from OASE is processed zeolite with a grain size of 5-10 mm that has been specially selected as filter material for the garden pond.

Zeolite is a rarely occurring type of stone; its name is based on the Greek words Zeo (bubbling), and Lithos (stones).
The name describes an entire class of minerals, that differ in where they are found, age, and crystallisation in their energy spectra.
For many years koi breeders have valued Zeolite as an outstanding and proven filter material due to its crystalline surface, which is approximately 1000x larger than that of sand or gravel. The large surface of the filter material promotes settlement of important micro-organisms, which are crucial for clear and natural water.

1 kg of pondlith per m3 of pond water is effective in garden ponds without fish stock.
